LEGAL INFORMATION
Privacy Policy for VoiceLab
This policy describes how VoiceLab processes microphone recordings, analysis results, training data, on-device speech models, reminders and advertising.
1. Controller and contact
The data controller is Maximilian Lutz, c/o flexdienst – #21849, Kurt-Schumacher-Straße 76, 67663 Kaiserslautern, Germany. Privacy requests must be sent by email to [email protected]; contact by postal mail is not possible.
2. Microphone, voice analysis and reading passages
When you start a 10-second voice analysis or an exercise, VoiceLab accesses the microphone to evaluate pitch in real time in your device's volatile memory. On devices running Android 13 or newer, the system's on-device speech recognition can be used during reading exercises to track spoken words locally. Audio data is fed through an internal in-memory pipe; at no point are audio files or text transcripts saved or transmitted to cloud servers. The microphone is released immediately whenever you pause, abort, move the app to the background or complete the exercise.
3. Local storage and data limitation
VoiceLab stores data exclusively in private app storage on your device: up to 100 voice analyses (date, time, pitch in Hz, self-rating and optional note), up to 200 exercise completions (date, time, exercise type, variant and repetitions), aggregate training data (streaks, points, badges, target range, language, reminder time and up to 30 recent text IDs to prevent repetition). There is no user account, no synchronisation with Stellune servers, and Android auto-backup is disabled for VoiceLab.
4. Daily reminders
Daily practice reminders are switched off by default. If you opt in, reminders are scheduled purely locally via the Android alarm manager at your chosen time. No push server is used. If the daily routine has already been completed, the reminder is skipped automatically for that day.
5. Advertising and consent
VoiceLab is monetised through Google AdMob fullscreen video ads (interstitials), shown before new analysis results and after every third completed exercise; there is no permanent banner ad. Google may process device-related data such as IP address, approximate location, ad interaction and advertising IDs. Consent is managed through Google User Messaging Platform (UMP), and ad privacy settings can be reviewed or updated anytime in the app settings. Voice recordings and analysis metrics are never shared with Google.
6. Permissions and internet access
The app uses permissions for the microphone, notifications, run-at-startup (to restore local reminders) and internet access. Internet access is used exclusively for advertising including consent management and for optional downloads of on-device speech recognition models managed by the Android system. Unencrypted network traffic (cleartext HTTP) is blocked. VoiceLab does not request access to the camera, contacts, precise GPS location or shared storage.
7. App purpose and wellness notice
VoiceLab is a lifestyle and training app designed to foster a relaxed, comfortable speaking voice; it is neither a medical device nor a therapeutic tool. Analysis metrics and exercises serve personal orientation and entertainment only. The app makes no claim of medical improvement or permanent vocal change and does not replace medical or speech therapy treatment.
8. Deletion and data control
You can completely remove all locally stored data at any time by clearing app data in the Android system settings or uninstalling the app. Because Stellune stores no data on remote servers, deleted data cannot be restored by us.
9. Your rights
You are entitled to statutory GDPR data protection rights, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Privacy inquiries should be sent by email to [email protected]. Local device data is managed and erased directly within the app or system settings.
